Laurina Hannan

 

The 2010 Kaw Valley State Bank Distinguished Citizen for Wamego is Wamego High Senior, Laurina Hannan.

 

Laurina, is described as a student who is dedicated to her community and her school. Through her involvement in her school, church, and community, Laurina’s selflessness has lead her to being involved not only in her local community but helping those less fortunate in other areas as well. 

 

Laurina is an active member of the Wamego community. She has received the Gold Award, the highest award in Girl Scouting. She raised funds to erect a flagpole at the Wamego Sports Complex. She is also active with community organizations. She is a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and the Episcopal Diocese of Kansas. She has been a Peer youth Minister for the Kansas Diocese for 3 years. She is the elected representative for the North East Convocation for the Youth Commission and is the Secretary for the Youth Commission. She attended Girls’ State at Kansas University this past summer. In school Laurina is involved in Concert Choir, Concert and Marching Band, International Student Mentoring, National Honor Society, Theater, as well as being the Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper.
